PEWS
A pictorial of events occurring when we received 23 used oak pews consisting of fourteen 15 foot pews and nine 14 foot 4 inch pews and two modesty fronts. It shows an almost empty Sanctuary, old pews in Narthex, new pews in Fellowship Hall in order to fix and clean them, and bringing the pews into the Sanctuary and setting up a new configuration of seating because of the longer length of pews and giving the choir pews instead of chairs to set on.
On Janurary 7th a caravan of a semi, horse trailer, open trailer and a crew of members headed to Tomah to get the used pews in a snow storm. They left at 8:00 a.m. and got back to church around 12:30 p.m. Besides several inches of snow and several vehicles seen in the ditch they had to cut a tree down in order to get the semi into area where pews were stored. While they were gone a crew of members took apart and removed all pews from the Sanctuary and got ready for the arrival of the pews. Both groups worked together to get the snow covered pews into the Fellowship Hall and wiped down. On January 8th a group of members assembled to fix, clean pews and cushions, and move all pews into the Sanctuary. People from a new church in Janesville arrived to pick up the old pews we gave them. They had to make three trips as their trailer only held six pews at a time. On January 9th members again assembled to put cushions on pews, clean Fellowship Hall, and whatever else necessary to have church ready for Sunday Services.
We want to thank all those involved for their hard work.
